The Ninoy Aquino International Airport's (NAIA) oldest and smallest terminal, Terminal 4, will temporarily close in November 2024 to undergo a major renovation, according to New NAIA Infrastructure Corporation (NNIC) General Manager Angelito Alvarez.
The terminal, which mainly serves flights operated by turboprop planes to smaller regional destinations, is expected to reopen in February 2025. Alvarez described the upcoming work as a "major renovation," but provided no further details.
Starting November 7, airlines operating from Terminal 4, such as Cebu Pacific’s low-cost unit CebGo and boutique carrier AirSWIFT, will move their flights to Terminal 2.
NNIC, which took over NAIA in September 2024, has pledged to resolve long-standing issues such as broken facilities, power outages, and pest infestations, while also upgrading airport systems, including baggage handling, check-in processes, and broadband connectivity. However, the upgrades come with increased terminal fees for passengers and higher landing and take-off fees for airlines.
CebGo and AirSWIFT both expressed their support for NNIC's vision to improve airport operations and ensure a seamless transition during the renovation phase.
