More than 1,300 flights were canceled in the United States on Monday as Hurricane Beryl, the season's first Category 5 storm, made landfall in Texas. The powerful hurricane brought severe weather conditions, leading to widespread travel disruptions. According to FlightAware, 1,354 flights were canceled and 773 were delayed as of early Monday morning.

United Airlines was the hardest hit, with 405 cancellations, while Southwest Airlines canceled 268 flights. Southwest Airlines has adjusted its operations in Houston and other southern Texas cities in response to the hurricane. Travel advisories have been issued by both airlines, affecting several airports in the region including Austin, Corpus Christi, and Harlingen.

The National Hurricane Center reported that Beryl made landfall near Matagorda, bringing dangerous storm surges and high winds to the area. In anticipation of the storm, Texas' largest ports ceased operations and vessel traffic as early as Sunday. The Federal Aviation Administration had previously warned of potential thunderstorm impacts on travel nationwide.
