Lebanese businessman Nizar Choucair, renowned for turning his childhood passion for chocolate into the globally recognized brand 'Patchi', has passed away. Prayers for the respected octogenarian are set for Monday afternoon at the Al Khashoggi Mosque.

Condolences will be received before the burial at the Mohyee Aldin Barghouth Hall - Al Khashoggi Mosque. Following the burial, condolences will continue on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at the Seaside Pavilion Hall, Beirut Waterfront.

The company shared a heartfelt message on social media: "It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Nizar Choucair, our beloved founder. Mr. Choucair was a man whose warmth and generosity touched everyone who knew him."

Patchi highlighted Choucair’s transformative impact on the chocolate industry, stating, "His visionary approach transformed chocolate into an art that evokes emotions and creates cherished memories. His legacy lives on through Patchi, a brand that has reached hearts across cultures and celebrations."

Born in Beirut, Choucair moved to Kuwait at 18, initially working in gas manufacturing. Returning to Lebanon, he launched 'Patchi' chocolates, starting with a single shop and four employees. His business quickly grew, opening new branches every six months and eventually expanding to over 150 locations worldwide.

A crucial interest-free loan from the Bank of Lebanon in 1990 allowed Choucair to modernize his factory. His enterprise flourished, establishing factories and branches in the UAE, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and beyond.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the beloved family of Mr. Nizar Choucair and the extended Patchi family during this difficult time. May they find strength, comfort, and solace in the cherished memories shared with him. May his legacy of kindness, vision, and generosity continue to illuminate the path forward," the company added.
