A Filipina nurse in her early 30s tragically died in a car accident in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, her employer and the Philippine Embassy confirmed. The nurse had only been in the UAE for a few months, having arrived last August to work at Al Raiaa Home Health Care.

The Philippine Embassy said their Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Abu Dhabi is coordinating with the nurse's family. "We are talking to the family and working on the case," the mission said in a Khaleej Times report, without disclosing further details.

According to an HR officer from the home care company, the nurse had completed her shift on Saturday and was due back at work on Sunday. However, she failed to report for duty and could not be reached. "We tried calling her and contacting her accommodation, but we couldn’t get hold of her. We later learned that she had passed away in a car accident that night," the officer said.

The Filipino Nurses Association in Emirates expressed their sorrow over the loss. “We are saddened by the loss of our fellow nurse. Our deepest condolences to her family,” said Ronald Gamiao, president of the association.

Messages of grief and support have been pouring in on social media. "Her sudden and heartbreaking death has left us devastated," wrote Esmer Pariñas, while another user, Sherman Gamboa, expressed his shock and love for the nurse, calling her "one of my closest cousins."

Authorities are currently assisting the family, and all necessary paperwork has been completed.
