In a heroic act amid Dubai's torrential rains yesterday, Shahvez Khan saved the lives of five people trapped inside a partially submerged yellow truck near the City Walk underpass. Khan, prompted by faint thumping sounds from the vehicle, did not hesitate to dive into the floodwaters to investigate.
"True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost but the urge to serve others at whatever cost," said Esha D'Souza, sharing the news on LinkedIn, reflecting on the selflessness displayed by Khan.
Upon discovering the trapped individuals, Khan, along with a group of bystanders, managed to pry open the truck's sunroof using a found tool, facilitating a dramatic rescue. "The passengers were in tears of joy and thanked us intensely for saving their lives," Khan recounted, despite sustaining minor injuries during the rescue.
This event not only highlights Khan's bravery but also underscores the community's collective effort in facing adversity. "It's moments like these that remind us of the power of community and the importance of helping one another in times of need," Khan added.
Shahvez's actions are celebrated by his team and community, reinforcing the values of courage and altruism. "We are honored to have him as a member of our team, and we stand behind him as a true hero," D'Souza stated, expressing pride and gratitude for Khan's inspirational conduct.
