Block Club Chicago invites Chicagoans to delve into the rich history of the city's Filipino American community during Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Award-winning editor and writer Michi Trota will lead an engaging discussion with community leaders Mark Calaguas, Jerry Clarito, and advocate Carla Navoa.
The event aims to highlight the vibrant contributions of Filipinos to Chicago's culture and politics. From their involvement in historic labor movements to their resilience in the face of discriminatory immigration policies, the discussion will shed light on often overlooked stories that have shaped the city.
Scheduled for Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Ravenswood Loft, the program promises an insightful exploration of Filipino heritage and its impact on Chicago's development. Attendees can participate in an audience Q&A session following the panel discussion.
