At least 19 vehicles were damaged when a fire broke out in a parking area at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 in Pasay City.

According to a statement from the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), the fire was declared under control by its Rescue and Firefighting Division at 1:57 p.m.

An ongoing investigation is underway to determine the extent of the damage and the cause of the fire.

MIAA General Manager Eric Jose Ines suggested that the extreme heat, compounded by grassy parking areas, may have contributed to the fire.

Fortunately, the operation of NAIA was not affected by the incident.
