Diwata's Diwata Pares Overload, situated along Diokno Boulevard, has become the talk of the town as crowds flock to taste its specialty despite swirling rumors of closure. The popular paresan, owned by Deo Jarito Balbuena, aka "Diwata," faced scrutiny as rumors surfaced on Facebook suggesting imminent closure due to alleged strict regulations imposed by the municipality.
The viral sensation sparked when Diwata's Pares Overload introduced an offer of unlimited food, drawing hundreds, if not thousands, to experience the famed culinary delights. However, amidst the buzz, speculations mounted on social media platforms regarding a possible close order issued to the stall.
In response to the hearsay, Diwata took to Facebook to dispel the rumors, assuring patrons that no closure is impending. This clarification comes after the Pasay City government clarified that Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano had not sanctioned the closure of the establishment.
The city government elucidated that Balbuena had received a show cause order, prompting a reminder of the requisite documents and procedures for obtaining a business permit from the Pasay City Business Permit and Licensing Office. Balbuena, in turn, met with Mayor Rubiano to seek an extension while addressing the necessary paperwork.
Balbuena gained online fame in 2016, earning the moniker "Diwata" after a viral incident where he was involved in a scuffle and gracefully sashayed at a police station, reminiscent of a beauty queen.
