The UAE government has declared a one-week holiday for its public sector employees starting Monday, April 8. Federal government workers will enjoy a well-deserved break until Sunday, April 14, marking the occasion of Eid Al Fitr.

This generous holiday period extends over nine days, including the official weekend days of Saturday and Sunday. The holiday celebrates Eid Al Fitr, which signifies the end of the holy month of Ramadan, a time of fasting and reflection for Muslims worldwide.

Regardless of the moon sighting, the holiday officially commences on April 8, aligning with the conclusion of Ramadan. As per the Islamic calendar, the duration of Ramadan spans 29 or 30 days, contingent upon the sighting of the Moon. Eid Al Fitr festivities commence on the first day of Shawwal, the month following Ramadan.

With anticipation building as Ramadan nears its end, residents across the UAE are eagerly preparing to revel in the festivities of the longest public holiday of the year. Regular working hours are set to resume on Monday, April 15, following this joyous period of celebration.
