The UAE Food Bank has announced plans to distribute more than 5 million meals during the holy month of Ramadan, aiming to support half a million families and over three million workers. With an average of 166,666 meals set to be delivered daily, beneficiaries will be both local and international.
This effort will be supported by over 5,000 volunteers and more than 350 strategic partners, including food facilities, hotels, and restaurants. Dawoud Al Hajri, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the UAE Food Bank, highlighted the bank's mission to promote responsible food management, reduce waste, and foster social responsibility and volunteerism.
The bank also aims to divert 975 tonnes of food waste from landfills during Ramadan, equivalent to planting over 100,000 trees annually. Various sub-initiatives and campaigns, such as 'Your Iftar is on Us', 'No for Wasting Food', 'Cook of Thousand Meals', 'Food Parcel', and 'Iftar with the Workers', will ensure meals reach those in need.
Moreover, 25 educational programs will be rolled out to raise awareness on environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and volunteering. Since its establishment in 2017, the UAE Food Bank has impacted 35 million beneficiaries locally and globally, reflecting its steadfast commitment to alleviating hunger and promoting community welfare.
