San Miguel Corporation (SMC) President and CEO Ramon Ang has committed to the construction of a new passenger terminal building at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) within the next three years. The new facility is expected to significantly enhance the passenger experience, featuring 50 boarding bridges, as part of a broader effort to address the airport's challenges.

The pledge comes amid a wave of criticism directed at NAIA, with numerous reports highlighting issues ranging from pest infestations, including bed bugs and rats, to perceived deteriorations in infrastructure. These problems have cast a shadow over the airport's reputation, sparking calls for urgent improvements.

Ramon Ang expressed confidence in the transformative potential of the upcoming projects for NAIA. "By the time I take over, before Holy Week next year, believe me, it will be much cooler, traffic will be a thing of the past, and it will be very clean. You won't see any of the problems you're used to," Ang stated in an interview on Monday.

The initiative by San Miguel Corp. represents a significant investment in the future of the Philippines' primary international gateway, aiming to elevate the standard of services and facilities to match global benchmarks.
